Warning: This is gonna be a long rant!
If you ever want to get on my bad side, all you have to do is waste my time, bash me afterwards, and bawwww in about 8 different journals about how certain people (aka me and a couple of others) are trolling you, hate you, and make you wanna leave foreverz.
Then after your blind fanbase collectively kisses your ass, you go back to the way things were as if it were no big deal, LIE to me about taking my advice and critiquing into account to actually improve, go BACKWARDS in your art, then repeat the process when I attempt to help again.
Britta was probably the worst example in the Rayman community and one of the worst examples in the art community if you exclude the Sonic fandom entirely (because that’s heavy competition).
Britta made a Mary Sue that was kinda an avatar of what herself, or at least what she wanted herself to be, and paired her up with various characters while changing said characters personalities to make them perfect sues, which angered much of the fandom.
We tried to help. We tried to tell her how to change her character, as we saw potential. We told her that appearance a mary-sue does not make, but rather how she bends the universe to her very will, and has so many perfections that one could never hope to relate with the character.
Britta’s character was part fairy, part human, part cat, and part 2 other things I can’t remember. She came from earth, went into Sonic’s universe, ended up in Rayman’s universe, and I don’t know where it went from there. She apparently had a good relationship with her parents, yet had a very tragic backstory.
I could go on and on with what this character was, but I think the above lines alone show how many problems are there. I spent a LOT of time with this girl, trying to help her. I gave her tons of advise on how to make her character better and told her it’s a VERY good idea to begin with taking a Mary Sue test just to see just how bad it is so we could begin the healing process. She acted like taking the test would be absolute cancer to her (probably because she KNEW her character was a sue and doesn’t want to admit it) and threw a fit. So we skipped the “figuring out how bad it is” stage and I went into the advice stage.
I told her to tone down the perfection of her beauty for starts. No character should be beautiful by default, especially enough for several different canon characters to suddenly be stricken by the cliche of love at first sight. I went on to tell her how she should tone down her species. If Britta is meant for the Rayman Fandom, then just make her a fairy. Simple enough. Loads of people made fan fairies. Even me!
Then I went on to the major problem: Handling relationships with Britta and canon characters. She had about 50+ images of her character and Rayman doing nothing but looking at each other with goo-goo eyes, surrounded by hearts, or hugging, or kissing, or being in bed with each other, or having some random Britta-being-teary-and-Rayman-comforting-her moment. There was nothing to really display what makes their relationship so powerful. If she were younger, I’d let this slide, but she’s 16 years old! She should know that the whole hearts surrounding the characters and 50 pages of lovey dovey stuff is going to make people roll eyes.
I gave her plenty of examples about how relationships work, from being friends, to realization of love. I told her how couples do a lot more than just hug, kiss, and fuck, and how many they can go on walks, participate in hobbies, and since this is a case of her character being in love with Rayman, they could fight enemies together. I also included that couples don’t always get along. They do have their spats, and I gave her examples with my own characters and real world instances.
I poured my heart into trying to help her, because I saw potential. I know taking criticism is hard, but we need it to improve. And when several people are pointing out that there’s a lot of things wrong with the same character and how she’s portraying a beloved canon character, it’s probably a good idea to listen. She was very lucky that I and others were so gentle with her, because I could have started out a lot worse with her.
She acted like she really did take my words into consideration and wanted to improve. I was happy. But then she decided to completely ignore all my advise entirely and built a Raygirl character for Rayman and a new limbless character for her own, as if it made a difference. Same goo-goo eye pictures, same kissy pictures, same hugging pictures, same in-bed pictures, and same Britta-is-emotional-and-character-must-comfort-her pictures. Nothing changed. It only got worse.
I pointed this out, saying that this isn’t making her problem better, and began explaining that she doesn’t have to make a new character for her pairing to continue if she would just listen to others and me. Again, she acted like she was taking it all into consideration….then she threw up a pissy fit journal about being trolled.
THAT is where ANGRY Luckster decided to come out.
She lied to me twice, then decided she wanted to portray me as the bad guy. You don’t have to name drop for me to know it was me you’re talking about, especially when we just spoke and you unwatched me because you think I’m a nasty troll.
I ignored her for a little while, not wanting to lose my shit over her. I came back a while, hoping for improvement. NOPE!! She’s going so ass backwards, it’s a wonder how she hadn’t hit anything along the way!! She transferred her avatar character to the FOP universe this time!! Pairing herself with Timmy. Same old goo-goo eyes, same old kissy, same old huggy, same old in bed pics, and I’m sure there was a comfort image in there somewhere.
Once again she just minorly changed her avatar character and HORRIBLY warped the personality of a canon character to make them a perfect sue. I decided to stay quiet on it, not wanting to blow another gasket on someone who one’s listen.
I began speaking again when an acquaintance of mine did a parody image on Britta’s new obsession. Rather than giggling it off and accepting her 100th fanart (seriously, she got like a new piece of fanart every other day), she BAAWWWWWWWWed about it in a journal, whining and crying about how she’s being trolled and bullied.
I called her out. I was PISSED!
Fanart is a fucking LUXURY to most artists! I consider myself one VERY lucky person to be getting a lot of sketch images from both Edli and Wolfie as of late, sometimes not even directly made for the sole purpose of being fanart, but I always get a tingly happy sensation to see someone had drawn my characters in any sort of situation.
She gets tons of fanart around the clock from people who blindly love her, and she’s going to toss her shit over one single parody image? This pissed me off to no end. She’s nothing more than a fucking drama whore who probably gets off on all the ass kissing she gets whenever she makes a fucking BAWWWWWW journal, and this really pushed the envelope. What’s more is she made an additional journal much later about “Woe is me! I’m being trolled!”
I take a look around. No one is fucking trolling her. When you’re being trolled, you’re being trolled by tons of people on your front page, your journals, your deviations, everywhere. NO ONE IS FUCKING TROLLING YOU, YOU ATTENTION SLUT!! You are just incapable of learning that not everyone is blind about your shitty mary-sue artwork, there are going to be people angry when you warp a canon character into something they’re not just for the sake of making them perfect for your character, and there are going to people who are going to be VERY angry with you when they try to help you and you virtually spit in their face!
Britta, wherever you are, I hope you never come back to deviantart. Stay on your German site where the other 16-13 year old ass-kissers have followed you. Stay in your little sheltered box and never ever learn about proper character writing and development. Stay in your fantasy world where all boys are perfect and immediately fall head over heels for you without any probably cause.
You sicken me! You are an insult not only to the fandoms you have raped, but you have no right to call yourself an artist!
